Atelier Stories
My name is Mercedes, I was born in 1982, I live in Italy and I have been passionate about art since I was little; ranging from music, dance and painting to literature. To make myself known as I think best, I will say that I love any expression of Being, fruit of passion and soul.
After traveling extensively and experiencing the cultures of many countries, I happily raised a family of my own in a small village in Umbria.
For me, Italy has been a fundamental source of inspiration, from the macro cultural expressions in which every corner of this country is immersed, to its most intimate artistic forms: Craftsmanship.
It is here that I experienced a particular devotion for handmade things, remaining infected by the passion for the artisan profession. I have learned to appreciate this impulse to express myself through my Work, dedicating more time to it each time until it is transformed into a real Art, and seeing how it has become an essential part of my life.
Objects with Soul
For me, objects with a soul are those that come from the most intimate imagination of their creator, that are worked with patience and dedication, that have a destiny and a purpose: that of creating a bond from person to person, with the same naturalness with which they contrast with mass objects manufactured in series, sterile of meanings and passions.
This is precisely the spirit of Storie D'Atelier.
There is no artisanal work without inspiration, we need lived experiences and sensations to express ourselves; and this fuel can only reveal itself through music, books, travel, experiences, love, and then be poured into a unique and special work. Each of my creations is inspired by a starry night, by a literary classic but also by the sensations of South America and the beauty of Mediterranean landscapes.
Why create jewelry?
Due to their ability to express sensuality in the true meaning of the word, a jewel is a veiled call for attention, a revelation of nuances and personality of the wearer, it is a way to understand how you feel, what you want to reflect or simply a way to stimulate the curiosity of others. The selected raw materials and craftsmanship are also a choice that also tells a lot about one's vision of the world, ethics and sustainability.
